Anxiety Therapy

Therapy for anxiety can make your life’s journey a less rocky one!

-With all the uncertainty in today’s world do you struggle to relax?
-Are your anxious and worry thoughts hard to control? Do you feel restless, tense, your heart pounds and you avoid things you didn’t before?
-Do you have a hard time falling or staying asleep at night because you rehash the day’s events over and over again?
-Do you wake up feeling overwhelmed by all you need to do or figure out?
-Do you fear letting people down? Feel rather out of touch with your body and out of balance? Feel that life is a burden and you just can’t seem to feel happy or carefree like perhaps you once did?
-Have you been isolating yourself? Does it seem like you are disconnected? Do lots of things trigger your worry or fear? Do you find yourself thinking of the worst-case scenario? That everything is surely to be a catastrophe?

Alone you are not!

You are in good company if you answered yes to any of the questions above in your struggle with anxiety. According to the CDC about 40 million adults in the US have such intense anxiety that is affects their daily activities. Sadly, 63% don’t seek treatment for it too.

Anxiety can affect your health!

When you feel anxious the stress builds up in your body and you begin to notice tension in various parts of your body. Your neck and shoulder areas are key places with muscles that hurt from being tense. Not only does sleep become challenging but you may experience sweaty palms, headaches, stomach upset, a racing heart. These physical symptoms can be distressing to experience. You may feel claustrophobic or on the verge of a panic attack.

It feels like no one understands!

To avoid triggering your anxiety you might start cutting yourself off from activities you once enjoyed. You worry about being a burden to family and friends. You may not know how to communicate your needs. You don’t want to let anyone down so you push through the stress and avoid self-care and rest. You try hard to live up to the standards you think people expect of you.

Friends and family try giving advice but comments like “Try not to worry” or “Don’t panic” just leave you feeling guilty and misunderstood.

You probably wonder what is fueling the deeper cause of all this anxiety you carry and want so much to be able to do things and live your life without having all this worry.

Some degree of anxiety is a normal part of living life!

We may have extra anxiety because of a life transition or new situation. Watching the nightly news filled with anger and violence and mass shootings unfolding on the screen can bring out anxious feelings in us. Coping with the last several years of the Covid-19 pandemic has brought a heightened level of stress and anxiety to us all. In this age of social media pressure is hard to avoid. Everyone else on Facebook seems to have a perfect life when we compare to ours.

Everyone has a low level of anxiety at times. But when anxiety starts to interfere with your life it becomes a problem. Often anxiety doesn’t get better on its own.
